Power-Pole partners with NPCF to cure cancer one cast at a time
TAMPA --Catch fish. Win a Power-Pole. Defeat childhood cancer. It’s a win all around.
Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchors is proud to partner with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation for the 2019 NPCF All-American Fishing Tournament, a nationwide tournament to raise awareness and funding for childhood cancer research.
The app-based competition is open to both freshwater and saltwater anglers across the country starting April 6 and will run through Sept. 28. Along with over $10,000 in total prize money, all entrants will be eligible to win a Power-Pole 8-foot Pro II Shallow Water Anchor.
“Power-Pole has a long and wonderful tradition of community support, and we are excited to announce their recent partnership with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation in an effort to expand the ‘Fishing Funds The Cure’ initiative,” NPCF CEO David Frazer said. “This project helps to fund research to find less-toxic, more targeted treatments, therapies and cures for pediatric cancer.”
Anglers may register at FishingFundsTheCure.org anytime during the tournament. Registration fee is $25 per angler and includes an entry to win the Power-Pole Anchor, which will be chosen at random. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three catches for the following species: largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill/bream, rainbow trout and cutthroat for freshwater anglers, and redfish, snook, spotted seatrout, flounder and striped bass for saltwater. Anglers may fish from the shore, docks, seawalls, boats and bridges in any natural body of water.
“Power Pole is committed to helping kids beat this battle,” J.L. Marine CFO Jean Treimanis said. “We can now all fish with a purpose as we support a worthy cause.”
The competition will utilize the iAngler Tournament app for Apple or Android for the catch, photo and release tournament. Winning fish will be determined by the total inches of the largest of the eligible species caught. Winners will be announced live on Facebook on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6:00 p.m. ET.
Founded in 1991, The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is dedicated to funding clinical trials by collaborating with a network of cutting-edge hospitals across the nation to eliminate childhood cancer and fast track less-toxic, more targeted treatments and therapies. Cancer is the leading cause of death among children and 43 cases are diagnosed every day. More than 95% of those who survive childhood cancer will have a significant health-related issue by the time they are 45 as a result of being treated with drugs designed for adults.
